Under Slept but Over Analyzed

Uh

I have half a mind to stop the post there and call it good. This weekend was anti-restful for the most part and generally did not prepare me for the week ahead. Right now, I feel like yesterday which I thought was Friday actually turned out to be Wednesday and I still have two more days to go. I sure you can sympathize. If not, you are not human.

Friday was fairly vanilla. The only thing to note was the fact that we had Criminal Law again! Professor Backus is teaching two sections of criminal law and now we are supposedly completely off from one another. On Thursday she only gave us some 18 pages to prepare and we prepared those pages. We then ended up finishing those pages quicker then she expected and I think she may have forgotten what she assigned. She called on Mrs. Hayes for the unassigned material and poor Ms. Hayes couldn't just tell her that the material she was asking for was unassigned. Rather she told Professor Backus that she was unprepared. Someone quickly came to her rescue pointing out what was and was not assigned and the class ended with no further disturbances.

Saturday was professionalism day and I was frankly impressed by how it turned out. Perhaps, I expected so little from this event that when we got there and went through it, I could be nothing but impressed? Either way, the event started at 9am on Saturday morning with a Judge who has been appointed to the Criminal Court of Appeals speaking for half an hour. He spoke on building good relationships and why relationships built now matter a lot in the future. It was an interesting speech, but nothing I haven't heard before. We then had three break out sessions those were on: Professionalism, Business and Dining Etiquette, and Professional Dress. Each had their ah-ha moments and I actually enjoyed the sessions. After the sessions were over, the law school provided lunch at it was Ray's BBQ which was pretty good.

After professionalism day, I ran home got packed and then headed up to Sooner Bowl to make a cameo appearance at the ward activity. All the regulars were there and it looks like they were having a pretty good time to say the least. I didn't stay too long, say 20-30 mins, before I headed out to Stillwater to visit Natalie and Jacob.

Natalie, Jacob, and I hung out that night and even traveled into Stillwater for frozen yogurt at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt. I had never heard of such a place it is pretty cool. You walk in grab a bowl and then pick as many different flavors(Strawberry, Vanilla, etc) of Frozen Yogurt you want. You then have the opportunity to top(Gummy Bears, Kit-Kat, etc) them with whatever you want and then pay by the oz. It is a pretty cool idea and was pretty good. There is one in Norman so I'll have to show my local compatriots.

Sunday I spent, for the majority of time, in Stillwater as well. With the Superbowl being on, and an entire lack of wanting to go back to Norman for a bit, I was pretty willing to hang around for awhile. Church was at 9am (Coincidental in relation to professionalism day? Perhaps not!) and it was the normal LDS routine. Sacrament Meeting followed by Sunday School followed by Priesthood. In the interesting thing about this ward is that it is the ward I would have grown up in had we remained in our last house in Stillwater. I personally didn't recognize anyone who recognized me but oh well!

The Superbowl, in my opinion, was one of the better, if not best, games I've seen all year. Both teams played well, had the guts to go for it, and had the athletes to do it. As you are probably aware the Saints prevailed in a much deserved fashion and now the NFL season is over.

I had neglected my Legal Writing and Research paper all to well and as such I paid the price on Sunday night and Monday morning. I got back to Stillwater around 10pm on Sunday and was then forced to work on my paper until 1:30am Monday morning. I then turned around and woke up at 6am to finish the paper. I don't know if it is good or if it is bad, I just know it was turned in.

The rest of today, Monday, has been a mix of soso and sleepiness. Torts went well and I feel like for the first time in that class I did an admirable job to represent myself as an individual with a brain. Legal Writing was once again a pointless reminder of the futility of man and our inability to evolve certain aspects of our lives. Oh well! By the end of those two classes, I was so wasted, not drunk wasted but like emotionally and physically wrecked, that I just came home ate and then slept. I skipped Con Law which wasn't the best idea but it shouldn't hurt me too badly.

Coming up this week is a few things of note but not too much.

First off, I think my Bishop was able to get everything submitted to the Stake President, I hope I hope, and if so then my Stake President should send it all out tomorrow afternoon. Using the position of the moon and the degree at which the Sun arises in the morning and dividing those numbers by the number of sheep in Montana, I've come to the conclusion that if my hypothesis is correct, Bishop has forwarded those papers, then I would probably receive may call sometime between February 24th and March 3rd. Of course that assumes my math isn't off on the number of sheep and so forth. No money back guarantees on this prediction of the future.

Secondly, Valentine's day approaches. I personally don't believe in the commercial holiday as there shouldn't be just one day in which we tell those individuals who are important to us that we love them and care from them.  My hope would be, that when the time comes that I'm in a relationship that is special, that I would be able to tell and show her my feelings towards her everyday and not just on February 14th.

Finally, the most important thing this week happens on Thursday night at 7 pm. Survivor returns and I am soooo stoked! This season takes place in Samoa as well but is billed as the Heroes vs. Villains. That is those characters whom the producers believed played the game like a hero versus those that played it like villains. They took a lot of characters from more recent seasons so I recognize a good amount and I'm pretty excited about it. I will once again be cheering for Russell from last season but good luck to them all and don't call me on Thursday night.

As you can see there is quite a bit going on for me right now and I wouldn't have it any other way.

One Love
